Arriving at Arusha Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by one of our experienced driver guides, ready to greet and escort you to Arusha and your chosen hotel. He will introduce you to this wonderful city and country!
Today, you collect your picnic lunchbox, and your safari really begins as we start early from your Arusha hotel for our pleasant drive westwards to Lake Manyara National Park exploring the stunning landscape of the park, looking for wildlife on the plains, in the acacia woodlands and by the shores of the shallow alkaline lake. At the end of the afternoon, it’s back to your lodge for some relaxation and a delicious dinner.
With Serengeti as our destination, and with your head full of magical memories of Manyara, we set off to the north and west, a 5-hour journey of around 222km, following the famous Rift Valley. Today’s highlight – certainly for first-time visitors – will simply be the Serengeti terrain itself. The sheer vastness, as the plains roll away in front of you into eternity, will leave you with a sense of awe.
From our accommodation, we set off after breakfast, a 6am departure to reach the rim and then descend into the vast crater itself. Like nothing else on Earth, the stunning crater of Ngorongoro is a unique home for many, many species of Tanzania’s wildlife. With some luck, you may even see a black rhino here. The crater has a population of around 120 lions, with well-defined territories; 15,000 wildebeest, 9,000 zebra, 400 hyenas, and around 50 black rhino.
After our morning game drive in Ngorongoro’s incredible crater, we will enjoy our lunch before we set out southwards for Tarangire National Park, a journey time of 4 ½ hours (200km).
The diverse landscapes of Tarangire, spread across nearly 3,000 km2, and the density and variety of wildlife they contain. And it is the wildlife – not us – which will decide what your highlight will be! Tarangire is also home to buffalo, lion, wildebeest, zebra and gazelle and the park can rival Serengeti for sheer animal densities. What might you see today?
Really well designed trip. Ngorongoro area was more than just the crater. Next time would like to do more activities. Herry informed us very well, safety was always first with him. Respected all the rules and not a cowboy like other guides/drivers.
Recommand Easy Travel. The lodge connected to the orphanage was fantastic. Glad the company suggested it
Easy Travel lived up to its name. We selected them based on positive reviews, that they offered multiple length safaris, and their responsiveness to logistics questions we had before booking.
After booking, the positive interactions continued. Najeebah was great in following up with logistics about our flight times, lodging for last night (after safari ended) before retro flights, the room/bed arrangement for our group, and more.
While en route to Kilimanjaro, one member of our party suffered a family emergency during a layover and had to turn around to go home. Najeebah was great and responsive with helping us adjust due to the smaller party size.
Once we arrived at Kilimanjaro Airport and cleared ppssport control/customs (recommend visa on arrival – see other Trip Advisor discussions), we were greeted by our guide Emillian. Not enough can be said about how great he was, both in making sure we had a positive experience and his encyclopedic knowledge of the fauna and flora of the region. He could spot and identify animals and birds while driving, that we could hardly see with the naked eye (he provided binoculars for us to use and get a better look). We saw the big five, the ugly five, and much more.
All but our first night (which was in Arusha) were in Tortilis (brand) camps in the glamping (comfort) tier. Each tent has private toilet and shower. Each camp being virtually the same made it feel like the camp was packed up and relocated to a new park while we were on safari, with the exception that the camp staff changed. Food was generally good, although could have used a little more variation on the packed box lunches (we had beef stroganoff 3 of 5 days).
Each of the four parks visited during our 7 day safari offered something unique. Yes, there was overlap in animals but would be hard to say any should be skipped. Serengetti was our favorite due to getting a full day to do a game drive and truly feeling like we were off grid when it was just us and another Easy Travel group teaming up in what felt like the middle of nowhere.
All in all, an amazing and unforgettable trip. Highly recommend Easy Travel, Emillian, and visiting the beautiful country of Tanzania.
me and my family went on the evening of the 27th of June and landed in KIA airport on the the 28th early morning then we were taken to a hotel in Arusha that had this beautiful view of the savannah around it and part of me thought I would be seeing a lion when i was sleeping but luckily we were safe and they provided us with breakfast, lunch and dinner and the meals were filling and then they took us on a safari were we went to Mt. Meru zoo and this is not the typical zoo you see in the US or UK in this zoo the animals were free to roam as they wished to and it such an amazing experience we got to feed the giraffes and monkeys but stayed a good distance away from the Lions and Elephants ,
If you ever do decide to go on this adventure you will definetly enjoy and i know i only explained 2 days but you should go and see for yourself what happens in the next 5 trust me you wont regret it
